mike&jackie's journeyman distillery wedding

Well hi there!

If you’ve been a follower of our work for a while here, I (Alyssa) should start off by apologizing for the loooooong blogging absence. The fall through end of 2016 was incredibly busy for us with the most jam-packed wedding season we’ve had yet on top of Drew starting his physical therapy program through GVSU. All very exciting and wonderful, but in order to stay sane and make sure our clients getting their images in a timely fashion was first business priority, blogging took a bit of a back seat. And while I missed it, having the extra time to rest and go on our weekly date night was worth it ;) If we’re gonna stay the goofballs y’all hire to photograph your beautiful lives, we gotta stay in love, right? ;) So hey, thanks for sticking around. We are so grateful for each and every one of you who has invested yourselves in this pocket of our lives called photography.

In other news… it’s April?! The 70+ degree weather we had in Grand Rapids this past weekend has us ALL sorts of amped for wedding season to start again. And my goodness, do we have some amazing people to celebrate this year. (You all know who you are!) It’s gonna be a killer year.

Because I’m practically dancing around in anticipation to begin shooting weddings again, I’m gonna blog a couple weddings that we had the joy of celebrating in the later half of last year to appease my antsyness. ;) Starting with Mike&Jackie here!

These two are seriously some of the best humans you could ever meet. This was definitely one of those wedding days that we left and said to ourselves “and WE got to be a part of that day?!” on the way back to the car. They are completely selfless, deeply in love, hysterical and comfortable together, and couldn’t have made us feel more like old friends. What could be better than celebrating the marriage of a partnership like that?! We honestly laughed the entire day. And of course I shed a couple tears, per the norm.

To make things even better, we got to shoot at Journeyman Distillery for the first time, which quickly made it’s way to the top of my favorite venues list. Drinks were of course beyond incredible, and holy moly… that space. It’s also an added bonus when you get to work with dj and videography pals that you immediately form a super team with - looking at you Justin and Leah. And as you’ll soon see, the florals that made this whole day extra dreamy by Marco Alexzondra were something else.

Here’s a full list of all the wonderful vendors that made things awesome!

hair + makeup // Salon 301
gown // Sophia Tolli
suit // Louis for Men
florals // Marco Alexzondra
ceremony // St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church (Niles)
reception // Journeyman Distillery
catering // The Very Best Catering (the name doesn’t lie, you guys.)
desserts // Bit of Swiss
dj // Justin Kung
videography // Leah Trib Productions

Hope you all enjoy a peek into this fantastic day. We’re glad you’re here, and we’ll see ya soon :)

Much love,
