lincoln&alana | detroit, michigan wedding

We just knew there was going to be something extra special about this day from our initial Skype meeting together – separated by the great state of Michigan, all cozied in our own homes and laughing quite a bit. :)

These two are beautiful together. You can sense a huge amount of respect and admiration between them immediately, and it quickly becomes no secret that they have zero problem laughing like crazy. Their wedding day was so relaxed and full of joy and anticipation. We started the day in the space they call home together now – where they saw each other for the first time that day. Right there in their kitchen. (I mean… all the greatest things happen in the kitchen, am I right??) We hung out there for a while and they laughed and cuddled in together as we snapped away – and you’d have never guessed we were even there by how comfortable they were. (I was already a big fan of photos in people’s homes, but now I am a HUGE fan of it. More of this please!) After this, we headed over to the amazing Jam Handy building, where their reception would later be held, to take a few more photos, and then off to the church we went. And wow… what a ceremony it was. Many friends and family participated by way of readings and music and their parents served communion to the whole group, which gave everyone just another peek into the things that make these two so wonderful. Their vows were personally written, and really…just perfect.

All in all, what made this day so special and stand out to us lies in the fact that they made sure it was going to be the exact celebration they wanted to look back on and remember as their wedding day. It was peaceful. It was intentional. It wasn’t full of a lot of driving around and people going everywhere. We absolutely adore our bigger more elaborate wedding days (a lot!), but there is much to be said about the days that have a bit of a change of pace.

Oh, and can it be said again? WE LOVE DETROIT. xo – you beautiful city, you.

Thank you so much for inviting us into your wedding day celebration, Lincoln&Alana! We were certainly made better by it, and are so grateful for you both. Definitely hoping some Detroit hang time is in our futures :)

All our love,
