Well everyone, it’s spring! And whether or not snow may or may not have accumulated on the ground here in the great state of Michigan yesterday, IT IS STILL SPRING. Darn it! Somehow, despite the polar vortex, it came! It came just the same!

Anyhow, I’m in a great mood if you can’t tell – currently sitting in the window of a lovely local coffee shop with a dear friend as I write. Even though I had to wear my winter coat to walk here this morning, I’m so grateful for the sunshine, and the fact that it ever shines at all. It’s a gift always worth being grateful for, and is so easily forgotten, you know. So if you get some, soak it in even if just for 30 seconds today. And if you don’t get some, remember how wonderful it feels, and be happy about that :) okay friends?! Just do it. For my sake. For your sake. For vitamin D’s sake. (And then as our lives change come whatever, we will still be friends forever.)

Speaking of sunshine… this day. Oh my. This beautiful wedding I get to share with you all today marks our very first wedding of the 2014 wedding season. And I have to tell you, I can’t imagine a better wedding to start the year with. Ceremony held at the incredible St. Clement Parish, followed by the brunch to end all brunches at the Dunlays On Clark Wine Bar just up the road – all in the gloriously perfect Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago – it was like living a dream. In a lot of ways, it was our ideal wedding. It was sunny, and in an area full of history and meaning for Nick&Emily. The day was designed to be a relaxing and fun celebration for everyone there. The church helped foster some of the best portraits we’d ever taken. The food (and bloody marys!) were to dieeeee for.

And most of all… the bride and groom share the most beautiful love. Knowing each other from childhood, this day was a long time coming in a lot of ways. Seeing them look at each other, the way Nick had a loving hand on Emily’s back at every turn, the speeches from family and friends that made me cry, even only having met them that morning… everything. Everyone at the wedding made us feel like old friends, and it left us speechless in a lot of ways.

The gratitude, trust, and respect you all showed us was amazing. What a gift! Our only regret is that we couldn’t have spent more time laughing with you all :)

Nick&Emily – you have such a beautiful future ahead of you. So happy that after all these years, it ended in marriage. We send you all our love and hugs and high fives!

Enjoy a peek into this amazing day, friends! We are so proud of these images, and we hope you can enjoy them even in just the slightest like we’ve had the chance to.

Until next time!
